Every Atherton Bike is built with the utmost attention to detail at our small facility in Machynlleth. When we started our own company we vowed that we’d only ever make and sell bikes that we are excited to ride and it’s been an easy promise to keep. We are proud to put our name on every bike and frame that leaves the building.
After 20 years of racing on the international stage, 10 years of Red Bull Hardline and 5 years of Dyfi Bike Park we’ve formed some pretty strong opinions about what makes a great bike. We offer perfect-fit, high-quality bikes with a playful ride-feel because that’s how we like to ride. At Dyfi and Red Bull Hardline we quickly saw that bike technology just wasn’t keeping up with the demands of today’s tougher riding and so we set out to make all our bikes super-strong and durable - every Atherton comes with a lifetime guarantee.
WHICH ONE'S YOURS?

"My Atherton Bike is as amazing as everyone says, but it still exceeded my expectations. The confidence that I feel while riding will unlock new levels in my ability"
Jenn Biestman, A.170
I will say that a person should build and ride one of these to really understand what a marvelous job you all have accomplished in the design and construction of this product. It has so greatly exceeded my expectations that superlatives escape me.
David Cook
It’s crystal clear that the Athertons have put together a unique package, with a distinct look and an equally distinct ride quality that sits head and shoulders above most generic designs. That alone should be worth the asking price.
Alan Muldoon
"It’s such incredible fun. I've owned and rented many bikes, but my Atherton Bike and the whole customer experience put everything else to shame."
Ben Stuht, S.170
I lost count of the number of times that I found myself much further ahead of my riding partners than I expected to be.
Ben Haworth
When the Atherton clan produces their own bikes, they don't do things by halves.
MTB News DE
The Atherton feels agile and playful, letting you shoot from one berm to the next at warp speed, the supportive suspension allowing you to pump the bike to go faster still.
Enduro MTB
One of the most fascinating bike brands is Atherton Bikes. The highly variable manufacturing process makes Atherton bikes possibly the most interesting bikes on the market.

Downhill - 200
Refined from race to race, our World Championship-winning downhill bike is super agile and responsive in handling, opening up more line choices than ever before. Whether you're on the racetrack or having fun at the bike park you’re going to love this bike.
Big Mountain - 170
Both our 170 bikes are designed, built and tested to the extreme in the Dyfi Valley. Mullet, DW suspension platform with 170mm of rear travel and a straight-through seat tube create these awesome all-rounders - big hitters in the bike park and beasts out on the trails.
Enduro - 150
Our 150's are inspired by Dan's experience on the Enduro circuit it’s equally at home on a big mountain mission with your mates. It tracks the ground as if it is glued to it, this progressive, supple and hard-hitting bike does it all, so you can push your limits every lap.
Trail - 130
Our 130 is light on the climbs and super-capable for a sick descent, perfect for a big adventure. Our Trail Bike has passed all the most stringent Cat 4 (Enduro) and Cat 5 tests (Downhill) from EFBE with flying colours, so wherever you ride you can be sure of a top day out.
Looking for your dream build? Use our suggested A Range builds as a springboard for your own line-by-line specification. We can supply anything from frame plus shock to a complete bike.
Whatever your skill-level or preferred riding style we believe that a high quality, perfect-fit bike that delivers a composed but playful ride is key to an awesome riding experience and to your progression as a rider. Our first customers all feel the same way – “I feel more confident” “ It’s like my body got stronger” and “You ride better on this bike.”
There are Atherton Bikes designed for trail adventures, for big mountain enduro epics, for bike park laps and downhill racing. Thinking about your usual rides and existing preferences is a great place to start.
How should I interpret the model names?
That’s easy! The letter signifies manufacturing process (so “A” for Additive Manufacturing or S for SubtractiveManufacturing) Then the number refers to mm of rear travel eg A170 is our additive manufactured bike with 170mm of travel on the rear...
I’m torn between two models, how do I choose?
It’s often helpful to focus this question on the terrain you ride most regularly and your focus on those rides. But there is a lot of overlap.
The A.130 is awesome for riders who love flowing trails and the chance to earn their descents but it’s also super tough, so it’s fully warrantied for bike park use and super fun!
Our 150s arethe perfect all-rounders… chose the carbon and titanium A150 for a full 29er that can push as hard as you can in an Enduro but is equally at home on a big mountain mission. Or the aluminium S150 with a mullet configuration …
The 170's were designed for rowdy bike park laps but is an absolute beast on the trails ... and it climbs “better than a bike with this much travel has any right to.” MBUK.
Of course if you’re going to race downhill there’s no question – choose the World Championship-winning A.200!
How do I choose between the A or S Range? What’s the difference?
Our A-range is built from carbon and titanium, slightly lighter than the Aluminium range and based around the infinitely adjustable DW6 linkage. With 22 standard sizes, a mm perfect custom-sizing option and the chance to choose your build line by line, the A-range is designed for riders who know exactly what they want and aren’t used to compromise!
The S-range is a more affordable option built from aluminium and based around the world –cup winning DW4 linkage. It offers 12 standard sizes, 3 builds hand-picked by our team and a slight hit on weight balanced by a rugged and low-maintenance ride. Many of the learnings from our award-winning A-range informed the design brief for this range – we think you’ll love it.
