Cyclescheme is an employee benefit available to UK tax payers, it can save you up to 40% off your next bike.
You pay nothing upfront and the payments are taken directly from your gross salary by your employer. Around 55% of UK employers are members of Cyclescheme but if yours isn’t it takes about 5 minutes for them to register.
Cyclescheme will cover the full price of your Atherton Bike and you can add in gear or component upgrades to our package, some employers cap the amount they allow but it’s easy for them to request an increase to their scheme or a one-off exception...
We don’t have an integrated checkout yet so chose your bike and size as usual then email us sales@athertonbikes.com
How it works
Take a read through the 5 step process to acquiring your new bike
Cyclescheme is a way to pay for your new bike via a monthly salary sacrifice. The payments are taken directly from your gross salary, which means you don’t pay tax, national insurance or interest fees. You can choose any bike -many employers offer no upper limit to spend!
How does the scheme work?
Purchasing through Cyclescheme allows you to save between 26% and 40%, offering a tax-efficient way to buy your next bike. Once you’ve checked your employer is signed up you can ask Cyclescheme for a Certificate which Atherton Bikes will redeem.
How much can I spend?
Most employers choose not to limit the order value with Cyclescheme. If your employer does have a limit its really easy to request an extension or one-off exception.
Please check whether your employer has set a limit before applying for your Certificate.
Can I add my own funds to ”top-up” the transaction?
No, top-ups aren’t allowed. The entire order value must be included on your Certificate and adding funds is not possible. This is determined by guidance from the Department for Transport. Ask your employer to request an extension instead.
How long does it take for my Certificate to be approved?
Once you have applied for your Certificate, the process typically takes between 3-14 days, depending on how quickly your employer processes your application. If you have an application in place, you can check the status via your Cyclescheme login.
How often can I apply for a Cyclescheme Certificate?
The standard period for a Cyclescheme Certificate is 12 months. Some employers
offer 6, 24-month or even longer schemes. Longer schemes are great if you don’t earn top dollar because you need to take home more than minimum wage after the deductions. You will need to check with your employer.
