Our hard-hitting,big-mountain enduro bikes are designed, built and tested to the extreme in the Dyfi Valley. Mixed-wheel configuration, a DW suspension platform with 170mm of rear travel and a straight-through seat tube create these awesome all-rounders. Our 170s are big hitters in the bike park andbeasts out on the trails.
Using cutting-edge lug and tube technologies brings super-strong, high-performance bikes to every rider, that are suitable for today’s tougher usage. Additive Manufacturing allowed us to accelerate learnings and compress innovation cycles; just four years into our journey we took the World Championship Gold and Silver – a first for any British Bike Company. The S Range carries forward our learnings on geometry, ride performance, strength and fit.
The A-range brings a touch more refinement, the S-range is as tough as you’ll ever get – there is an Atherton 170 for everyone...

7075 Aluminium tubes joined with CNC Aluminium lugs, optimised for strength and impact durability. Our core range comes in 12 standard sizes with 3build options chosen by us to perfectly complement your rides.
By offering 22 sizes (at 10mm increments) within our A Range, as well as a mm perfect custom-fit option, and 12 sizes with a lower standover on our S Range, compromising on fit is a thing of the past.
Dave Weagle’s DW Kinematic
Dave Weagle’s highly adjustable DW6 linkage on our A-range and easy-to-maintain DW4 linkage on the S-range with a custom-tuned shock provide outstanding small bump sensitivity, optimal ride height and a progressive kinematic.
No Threads, No Problem
Our bikes exclusively utilize threaded bottom brackets (BB). Beyond that, we've standardized barrel nuts and fasteners throughout, ensuring you'll never face the hassle of hunting down custom parts again!
Straight Through Seat Post
Both 170 enduro bikes use a mixed wheel configuration and straight-through seat tube so you can max out your dropper post, keeping the seat low for the descent and then getting maximum pop for the climbs.
Rugged Downtube Protector
All our bikes come equipped with a rugged downtube protector designed and manufactured in the UK using multi-jet fusion technologies, impacts are dampened and dispersed across a larger area.
Geometry
Our geometry is designed by World Champions for best ever bike-handling. All our bikes are tested in the Dyfi Valley, with thousands of hours of punishment from World Cup riders, our engineers and the dig crew
For our A170 we offer a choice of standard builds with the option of coil or air shock and 170mm or 180mm travel upfront. Our builds focus either on well-priced components chosen for rugged reliability or “the best that you can get” so there’s something for everyone! But there’s no pressure to settle for our favourites, use our standard builds as a springboard for your line-by-line specification.

FAQ's
Where do I begin?
Whatever your skill-level or preferred riding style we believe that a high-quality, perfect-fit bike that delivers a composed but playful ride is key to an awesome riding experience and to your progression as a rider. Our first customers all feel the same way – “I feel more confident” “ It’s like my body got stronger” and “You ride better on this bike.”
There are Atherton Bikes designed for trail adventures, for big mountain enduro epics, for bike park laps and downhill racing. Thinking about your usual rides and existing preferences is a great place to start.
How do I choose between the A or S Range? What’s the difference?
Our A-range is built from carbon and titanium, slightly lighter than the Aluminium range and based on the infinitely adjustable DW6 linkage. With 22 standard sizes, a mm perfect custom-sizing option and the chance to choose your build line by line, the A-range is designed for riders who know exactly what they want and aren’t used to compromise!
The S-range is a more affordable option built from aluminium and based around the World –Cup-winning DW4 linkage. It offers 12 standard sizes, 3 builds hand-picked by our team and a slight hit on weight balanced by a rugged and low-maintenance ride. Many of the learnings from our award-winning A-range informed the design brief for this range – we think you’ll love it
How well does the 170 climb?
With its steep seat angle and a supportive DW platform for wildly efficient pedalling the 170's climb far better than you might expect! Perfectly ready for big days in the mountains.
Custom build?
If you want to choose your own custom specification we’d recommend the A170, the S170 is offered in 3 different build options.
Is it covered by lifetime warranty?
Absolutely! Both our A and S Range bikes are covered by a lifetime warranty.
Can I demo?
Yes, we have a small demo fleet based at Dyfi Bike Park, Mid Wales – contact sales@athertonbikes.com for more details.
