FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where do I begin?
Whatever your skill-level or preferred riding style we believe that a high quality, perfect-fit bike that delivers a composed but playful ride is key to an awesome riding experience and to your progression as a rider. Our first customers all feel the same way – “I feel more confident” “ It’s like my body got stronger” and “You ride better on this bike.”
There are Atherton Bikes designed for trail adventures, for big mountain enduro epics, for bike park laps and downhill racing. Thinking about your usual rides and existing preferences is a great place to start.
How should I interpret the model names?
That’s easy! The letter signifies manufacturing process (so “A” for Additive Manufacturing or S for Subtractive Manufacturing) Then the number refers to mm of rear travel eg A170 is our additive manufactured bike with 170mm of travel on the rear...
I’m torn between two models, how do I choose?
It’s often helpful to focus this question on the terrain you ride most regularly and your focus on those rides. But there is a lot of overlap.
The A.130 is awesome for riders who love flowing trails and the chance to earn their descents but it’s also super tough, so it’s fully warrantied for bike park use and super fun!
Our 150s are the perfect all-rounders… chose the carbon and titanium A150 for a full 29er that can push as hard as you can in an Enduro but is equally at home on a big mountain mission. Or the aluminium S150 with a mullet configuration …
The 170's were designed for rowdy bike park laps but is an absolute beast on the trails ... and it climbs “better than a bike with this much travel has any right to.” MBUK.
Of course if you’re going to race downhill there’s no question – choose the World Championship-winning A.200!
How do I choose between the A or S Range? What’s the difference?
Our A-range is built from carbon and titanium, slightly lighter than the Aluminium range and based around the infinitely adjustable DW6 linkage. With 22 standard sizes, a mm perfect custom-sizing option and the chance to choose your build line by line, the A-range is designed for riders who know exactly what they want and aren’t used to compromise!
The S-range is a more affordable option built from aluminium and based around the world –cup winning DW4 linkage. It offers 12 standard sizes, 3 builds hand-picked by our team and a slight hit on weight balanced by a rugged and low-maintenance ride. Many of the learnings from our award-winning A-range informed the design brief for this range – we think you’ll love it.
